Google Maps Navigation Now Available On Android 1.6

A few weeks ago, Google has launched Google Maps Navigation (Beta) as a free feature of Google Maps on Android 2.0 devices. Currently Google has also expanded the availability of Google Maps Navigation for devices that run Android 1.6 (donut) or a newer version again, like T-Mobile myTouch 3G and the G1.

Google Maps is Navigtion GPS system connected to the internet with voice guidance and automatic rerouting, all of which can run on your phone. Use Google services through a telephone data connection that brings significant benefits to users GPS navigation, such as using Google Search (typed or spoken) to enter your destination, current location map, business, traffic data, and satellite and Street View imagery along your route .

This release also includes new Layer feature, which allows you to display geographic information on maps. View My Maps, transit lines, Wikipedia articles about places, and many more.

For some of the features available in Android 2.0 is not available in the Android 1.6, for example, the ability to use voice commands "navigate to".
