I'm sure most of you use CD / DVD for installing the operating system. Obviously to use CD / DVD, you need a CD / DVD drive. What about computers that do not have a CD / DVD Drive like a netbook? In this posting, I want to give a little ways to make your USB flash disk bootable in order to install the operating system (in this case, Windows 7)

Actually there are several techniques you can use to make your pendrive bootable, From that natively from Windows itself or using external party software. In my example, I will use the native way of the windows only, Before I begin there are several requirements that must be met as follows:

* You will need at least 4GB Flashdisk (for Windows 7 itself the size of about 3GB)
* I assume the Operating System you are using right now is Vista or Windows 7.

1. The first step that you need to do is plug your flash into the USB port.

2. Next open your command prompt by Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt. Right-click and select "Run As Administrator". Remember be Run As Administrator, cz there are some commands can not run smoothly.

3. Type diskpart command, the prompt will change to DiskPart>

4. Next type list disk to display available disks in our computers.

5. Format first on a flashdisk.

Type the following command:

select disk 1 -> 1 is the disk you want formatted, please adjust to your needs

clean

create a primary partition

select partition 1

active

fs = NTFS format

assign

exit

6. Having succeeded in the format, then we will create a bootable Flash with the help of our bootsect utilities contained in Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Still on the same command prompt, let's continue.

Insert the DVD in DVD Drive Windows 7 our computer, then change to the directory where the DVD is located, with the command:

d:

cd d: \ boot

7. Use bootsect to make us become a bootable pendrive. The trick is to type the command:
